James is a seasoned tax expert and the Founding Managing Director/Partner at Andersen in Rwanda, specializing in accounting, tax compliance and reporting, and various outsourced services.

James has a proven track record in guiding businesses through complex tax compliance and reporting landscapes and in particular helps both domestic and multinational clients set up operations in Rwanda, design and implement internal compliance processes, financial reporting, and tax compliance. He is also adept at navigating tax dispute resolutions, consistently securing favorable outcomes for clients.

His expertise extends across diverse sectors such as agriculture and Agri-processing, business process outsourcing (BPO), education, energy and large infrastructure, financial services and funds and investment structures under the Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC) as well as technology and startup ecosystems.

Beyond his leadership role at Andersen, James is an enthusiastic golfer and a respected business leader. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Rwanda (AmCham Rwanda), where he contributes to fostering business relations and advancing the interests of the business community in the region.

Timothy Gatonye leads the Tax Strategy and Transfer Pricing Services team at Andersen in Rwanda, specializing in providing strategic tax guidance to both domestic and multinational clients. He excels in offering deep insights into tax opportunities and risk management strategies which assist clients in optimizing their tax structures and compliance processes.

His expertise in international and domestic tax matters drives impactful outcomes for clients across diverse sectors, including agriculture, energy, large infrastructure, technology, and funds and investment structures under the Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC).

Timothy's proficiency extends to Transaction Deals and M&A Advisory, particularly in advising on tax matters related to entry strategy, acquisitions, realignment, and exit structures, as well as tax due diligence.

Moreover, Timothy supports clients in transfer pricing and emerging international tax issues, including global mobility matters, where he assists clients in addressing tax complications relating to cross-border deployment and services. He has also successfully represented clients in various tax-related matters, including securing tax incentives, private rulings, Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs), and tax dispute resolutions.

Catherine brings over 12 years of experience in strategic advisory across diverse sectors such as agribusiness, development finance, education, financial services, manufacturing, technology, and the public sector. Her regional experience gives her a nuanced understanding of the African market.

As the Director of Advisory Services, Catherine leads a dynamic team focused on delivering high-impact solutions in strategy advisory and insights, program design and management, entrepreneurship support services, due diligence, financial modelling, and valuation etc.

Catherine serves as a trusted advisor to multinationals, startups, government, and development agencies, playing pivotal roles in transformative initiatives including programs focused on enhancing digital innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems with responsibilities that include overseeing the development of a national innovation strategy, design of early-stage financing and design and implementation of a grant program for Entrepreneurial Support Organizations (ESOs).

She has managed an export growth program aimed at boosting high-value agricultural exports and has collaborated with development and public sector entities to provide Business Development Services (BDS) to priority sectors. Catherine's expertise also extends to developing strategic plans for both local and international clients.

Prior to joining Andersen, Catherine honed her skills at Deloitte, specializing in enterprise risk management.
